do eeeet!!

file transfer thru the IM gateway would be awesome! thats the one thing that would make Openfire server my favorite thing since i discovered deep frying chocolate bars

oh and it'd be real good to give that option to our staff members blah blah etc etc

Daniel Henninger - 07/19/07 06:10 AM
laugh Well it's clearly towards the top of my list. Just in case you aren't aware, I do this in my free time (have a real job) so I can't give you any sort of time frame. Once I get 1.1.0 out the door though, I was planning on working on buddy icons or file transfer, whichever is at the top of my votes list. Right now that's buddy icons so it will likely come first followed by file transfer.

will see, one more vote

Chris Obdam - 08/08/07 10:12 AM
I just voted for this issue! Do you have enough votes now?

File transfer would be really nice. I saw that File transfer is already implemented in the underlying Java library?

Daniel Henninger - 08/08/07 12:12 PM
It's "maybe" implemented in a lot of libraries. I think I'm actually going to try to implement it for IRC soon since that's such a trivial and well documented protocol and seems like as good a place to start as any.

Chris Obdam - 08/09/07 06:47 AM
Daniel, is the java-jml lib used in de IM Transport? If so, this URL http://java-jml.sourceforge.net/javadocs/index.html?net/sf/jml/impl/AbstractFileTransfer.html tells me that the lib supports FileTransfers? Maybe i'm wrong..

Can i check out the source to see if i can help with developing?

Daniel Henninger - 08/09/07 07:16 AM
chuckle I didn't imply that MSN doesn't have file transfer. It's just that IRC is a good place to start to get the logistics worked out. (btw I'm the lead developer for JML ) You are certainly welcome to check the source though. It's available by checking it out from SVN. (http://svn.igniterealtime.org/svn/repos/gateway/trunk) I do need to tell you that if you intend to submit code you would need to sign a contributor agreement from Jive. (protects Jive from folk deciding in the future that they are owed money for their code ;D ) Either way, file transfer is pretty soon on my list actually. That and buddy icons. (they're the top two voted things here)

Chris Obdam - 08/09/07 07:37 AM
Daniel, no need for chuckling. I didn't mean to say that MSN doesn't support file transfer. I saw it in de JML docs...
Didn't yet made the connection between a certain Daniel and Jadestorm

When you're the lead developer of JML you probably know if File Transfer is already implemented in the lib?

Daniel Henninger - 08/09/07 09:55 AM
lol looks like I left out a couple of words too. 'cause that sounded awefully "stern". (i meant to say I didn't mean to imply) Either way, yes, I think for the most part file transfer is implemented "mostly" across the board so it should be easy. I'm excited about it because.. I don't know if you know this but I wrote PyAIMt and PyICQt and I never got to file transfer and so it's something brand new for me! I'm really excited about tackling it, learning something new, etc!

Any update on this one?

Daniel Henninger - 01/24/08 05:34 PM
;D Not unless someone has already written the code for it. hehehe It's slated for 1.3.0, but that's about it at the moment.

Hartmut Döhler - 02/27/08 05:03 AM
I like MUC FTP!

But please log any IM filetransfer with filename, from/to JIDs, so the admin can verify agains illegal document exchange or maleware infection.

It will be nice if there is a virusscanner interface like amavis+clamav.
It will be also interested to have a way to deny/allow JIDs to use FTP (inband/outband)

How about fie transfer from Spark to SparkWeb? That would be awesome so that one's location wouldn't bar him from being a team player at work.

Daniel Henninger - 04/04/08 07:26 AM
What does that have to do with the IM Gateway plugin? =)
