I don't think this is going to make beta 5. May have to do some serious joscar work for this as I don't really understand why these aren't showing up. My theory is that they are showing up in a different list. It's actually possible that PyICQt could be helpful to debug this. =)

I was playing with my real ICQ client the other day and I was noticing that "awaiting authorization" people aren't showing up in my list in a manner in which I can see their status. Just can see that they're waiting. Are y'all seeing something different?

in original ICQ clients as i remember they are staying in such custom awaiting status. In Miranda i can see their real status, just when i right click i see Grant Authorisation option for them. But they look like normal contacts.

Joscar just does not have especially stable ICQ support and we would like to get a 1.0 version of the plugin out. We are going to label ICQ experimental for now and work on it more post 1.0.

Auto-reconnect support is also going to be post-1.0 as, to be done well, it will require some restructuring of the base code here and there.

Expect these things to be resolved soon after 1.0, but not for 1.0.

At this point, I have tested the behavior with multiple ICQ clients and if someone is literally awaiting authorization, they don't show up in the contact list with a status. (they just appear in the contact list as 'awaiting authorization') So there is no presence to display. Closing this issue.

so i would have to login with some ICQ client (that shows these contacts, no matter that their dont have a presence) to be able to see that someone is awating authorisation? or maybe Gateway will show that users in some "Awaiting authorisation" group, or in Online group but without presence or?

Daniel Henninger - 06/03/07 08:30 AM
Oh is that what the problem is? I thought all this time you were saying you were able to see the online/away/etc status of contacts awaiting auth. You just mean "having them in my list". That should actually be easy. =) I'll reopen.

i'm not seeing contacts (via Gateway and Spark) in Online group, because they are not authorised by me, so these cotnacts are shown in Offline group, though they can be online at that time.

As i said, Miranda is showing all online contacts as online, no matter the authorisation status. ICQ official client is showing such contacts in Awaiting authorisation group (i think both online and offline users, all in that group). And i think Spark needs to show these contacts in some distinguish way (not just as offline), and maybe some option to authorise them. Or just show them online if they are online.

These contacts now show as "ask" contacts. Psi shows this very well. I don't know about other clients.
