openfire 3.3.3 russian charset error

hi!

may be this error appeared after http://www.igniterealtime.org/issues/browse/JM-1127 .

Some russian letters are replaced with symbol of a square without the revealed dependence

example - http://papir.kiev.ua/tak.jpg . selected word "TAK", butt letter A replased symbol of a square.

this error not only me, all russian users op 3.3.3 report of error.

Hi,

does this happen during normal chat or for offline messages?

Could you please post the unicode code for the TAK 'A' so one can try to reproduce this?

squares appear in any word, not only 'a' letter.

And I do not know as to receive unicode code

I guess that it's "???" or in lower case "???", with T,?,K=U0422,U0410,U+041A

I tried this with Openfire 3.4.0-beta and there one can transfer the messages fine while online. Offline messages get corrupted and "??? ???" is displayed, maybe a problem of the MySQL database. Hopefully one with a 3.3.0 server can also test this.

3.4.0 beta will be out next week, Tuesday or Wednesday. Or if you want a pre-beta build from SVN your own Openfire version.

i rollback to 3.3.2 , work fine.

bag present in 3.3.3 when sending ANY combinations of russian letters.

Hi,

I did create JM-1175 for this issue while I have no idea what's causing it. Maybe it's related to JM-1127.

I am using Openfire 3.3.3 on SuSE 9 SP2 with Java 1.5.0_10 and MySQL 5.0.24a for several days and I don't have such problems, but when I tried to install Openfire 3.3.3 on windows 2003 server with standart database, I had the problems, you described. So, as I understand, the problem is either in Windows, or in database. Do you use Windows? Can it be the problem?

windows 2003, mssql 7. when i setup 3.3.3 database not change.

Linux Debian Etch

external Database MYSQL 4.1.11

JAVA 1.5 or 1.6

have the same result

i had the same problem and i have resolved it. it's a bug of mina. you can rollback the mina package to 1.1.0 and it works fine.
