IM plugin dection OK, cannot log into trnsport agent

Hello,

I updated today my wildfire (sorry Openfire ) to 3.3.1 in order to be able to install IM gateway plugin.

Once done, I can see the plugin in the deployed plugins tab.

I have the Gateway menu in the left sidebar, where I configurted, for example, MSN gateway, and test it (it says it can connect to messenger.hotmail.com:1863)

On my PSI client, I do have AIM, MSN etc. as transport agent now. I can register to them easily, by providing my username and password.

Unfortunately, I cannot pass the log phase. I have verified the login /pass with another client that connect directly to msn gateway, not via a jabber transport agent.

I must add that on the registrations menu I can see my registering MSN, but with a last login date to “never”.

I don’‘t have any idea as I don’'t have any piece of clue about the ongoing problem.

If you have your idea or you already configured this on the same versions of components, well of feed backs are welcomed !

Regards,

cgravier

That… that looks an awesome lot like a “screw you you don’'t have a new enough MSN client” message, but yet I’'m running the same thing and not having the problem. You have 1.0.2 installed, right?

(btw didn’'t I just see you posting on the py-transports list? ;D )

I confirm that I have 1.0.2 IM Gateway plugin and Openfire 3.3.1

For the py-transport list: correct !

Guys there point me to the IM Gateway Plugin that I was unaware of

=)

You don’'t happen to have a firewall between you and the outside world do you?

I DO have a Firewall between me and the outside world, but allowing outgoing traffic as default policy. You have an idea ?

Yeah that definitely doesn’‘t sound like the cause then. (I have the same setup at home) I’‘m trying to think of a way that I could get more information on what’'s going on…

Ok so, I compared the conversation with what’‘s supposed to happen according to the unofficial docs. The only thing I see missing is the client (ie, the gateway plugin) does not appear to be bothering to send your authentication data (as in, actual encrypted password and such). Hrm. Would you mind trying to connect, waiting say… 5 minutes? And then dumping me a copy of all of your logs? Email to jadestorm@nc.rr.com so you don’'t have to post here? =)

(or private message me, either way) Or even use one of those pastebin or whatever services. I’'m perplexed. It seems like it ought to be working fine.

Hello,

I mailed those to you some days ago, but I don’'t think you had some time to have a look at it …

In thoe logs you’‘ll see that during 5 minutes the im gateway won’'t try to reconnect (but I using default parameters of the plugin)

Any idea please ?

The debug logs you sent me weren’‘t really all that different from the logs you posted here. =/ Did the error, info, or warn logs show anything else related? I can’‘t see anything specific going on from these logs. The whole conversation with MSN “looks” fine, and then there’‘s a session close. It doesn’'t make a lot of sense to me.

The only thing I see related in Info.log is:

2007.05.23 18:04:20 Le shéma dans base de données gateway est inexistant. Installation en cours…

2007.05.23 18:04:20 Mise à jour de la base de données terminée.

Where a translation could be:

2007.05.23 18:04:20 Missing schema in gateway database. Installation in progress …

2007.05.23 18:04:20 Database update terminated.

Then I have “Registered me@myserver/Psi asme@yahoo.fr

Nothing in error or warning logs (except for yahoo but it is not the first gateway I want to set up).

Database update terminated??? That’'s not good! It looks like it failed to set things up properly. What database are you using?

embedded hypersonic (the service is not under heavy load)

Embedded whatnow? =)

Is that the same thing as the … hsqldb or whatever it is? (the default/embedded db that openfire uses)

Yep

http://hsqldb.org/

A Lightweight Java SQL Database Engine (very convenient I must say).

I send you in PM the content of debug log but just delete and insert SQL orders, not a valuable clue

Ok! I’'ll keep an eye out for the private message.

I don’‘t know if you know this, but there’'s a little tool in the bin/extras directory called embedded-db-viewer (.sh or .bat) that can let you look over the tables. Then again you may have other means you are aware of. =D

Hello,

I was wondering if this issue has been resolved.

I’‘m a new to openfire and recently installed 3.3.1 with the IM Gateway plugin and I seem the have exactly the seem problem. I’'ve been testing with version 1.0.2 and 1.1.0 and my debug log looks about the same as yours.

Stuff like this is being logged.

2007.06.05 11:14:01 session 5 received message CVR 2 8.1.0178 8.1.0178 8.0.0787 http://msgr.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/1/A/4/1A4FEB1A-18E0-423A-B898-F6974 02E4F7F/Install_Messenger.exe http://get.live.com

Did you find a solution?

Greeting Jeroen

Naw, we haven’‘t found a solution yet. I haven’'t actually heard from him in a bit.

I did not find enough time to try to migrate to another database

I hope I could before the end of the week but it is not that sure

=) I totally forgot that that’'s what you were waiting on. My bad! Let me know!

Good morning

I’'ve been testing with MySQL. No database events in the log (as far as I could see). But still no MSN

Any ideas?
