Openfires up to and including version 3.6.4 suffer from a memory leak in its PEP component. If your Openfire domain is crashing with OutOfMemoryExceptions, you might be having this problem.

As a workaround, you can disable PEP, by setting the Openfire property xmpp.pep.enabled to false.

Spark is not a very active project currently, but some work is constantly done (thanks to cstux). There is no official release so far, but you can always try the latest build from SVN or even compile the very latest version yourself.

The IM Gateway is no longer supported and should not be used.  It has been superseded by the Kraken Plugin (http://kraken.blathersource.org/).  If you continue to use the old IM Gateway plugin you will have connection issues with some or all external gateways.  There is no fix for this other than deleting this plugin and installing Kraken.

Openfire 3.6.4 has a bug, which prevents user to login to Admin Console on the last step of the setup. You have to restart Openfire after the installation (stop and then start it again). Only then it will be possible to login to Admin Console. This bug should be fixed in 3.6.5 version.
